Canada: Mount Underwood Wildfire Rages, Evacuation Orders Remain

The Mount Underwood wildfire has remained out of control, measuring at 3,761 hectares as of Sunday, August 17. Evacuation orders and alerts were in place related to the fire, including the order for the China Creek campground and the alert for parts of the Cameron Heights neighbourhood on the southern edge of the City of Port Alberni.

Canada: Wesley Ridge Fire Continues to Grow on Vancouver Island

The Wesley Ridge fire has been burning out of control on Vancouver Island on the north side of Cameron Lake with more than 400 people forced to evacuate. The fire now has grown to 511 hectares, according to the B.C. Wildfire Service (BCWS).

Huge plumes of smoke were visible from flights arriving and departing from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) as a wildfire rapidly spread through Pacific Palisades fueled by Santa Ana winds on Tuesday, January 7. The fire has scorched more than 2,900 acres, prompting the evacuation of nearly 30,000 residents and causing several road closures.
